02/05/13 (Thur) - Received these in the post today. They’re my contribution to the Art in Motion exhibition coming soon to Huddersfield train station. Didn’t have the time to produce any screen prints, so I’ve done something photography based instead. These are photos I took through a train window somewhere between Manchester and Bradford in 1997 - digitally manipulated in 2013. Not too much manipulation though… pretty much all I’ve done is repeat each image 4 times to create a kaleidoscopic kind of effect.

23/04/13 (Tue) - Had an interesting day today. Went to view studio space in Slaithwaite (would be really handy to a have a studio in Slaithwaite and nice to be able to walk there along the canal). After that went for a cup of tea at the home of Bristow & Lloyd. Finally got to see Lloyd’s letterpress machine - which is what you can see in the photo.

25/02/13 (Mon) - If anyone out there is interested in art and design, you might like to take a look at the new tumblr I just started over here.
It’s called “A Box of Things” and it’s a the place where I’ll be sharing things I like the look of (real things I actually own, not stuff I’ve reblogged).
Exhibit #1 from my ‘Box of Things’ is what you can see above.
I’ve called my new tumblr ‘A Box of Things’ because that’s how it started life… as a box of nice looking things that I’ve collected over the last few years. Now the time has come to let those things out of the box.

23/02/13 (Sat) - Today was the Hand Made Trail at Slaithwaite Moonraking Festival - it was my first forray into the world of the craft stall (I had a stall in the Methodist Church). Couldn’t have gone much better.
I sold 3 screen prints and a lot of postcards. The postcards were selling like hot cakes. It was fascinating how interested people were in seeing (and talking about) images of the places that are familiar to them. I’m not talking about traditional touristy type images - intriguingly it was the radio transmitters at Pole Moor that proved the most popular.

08/02/13 (Fri) - Tonight I’ve been drinking this excellent beer from Salataire (I like chocolate beer).

When I was at school I had to draw a scale map of Saltaire. I did quite a good job as I recall. No idea why we had to do it though??!

The same teacher who set the ‘draw a scale map of Saltaire’ project also used to tell this story about a guy called Maurice Mackerel who got burnt to a cinder by a pillon. Seemed quite plausable at the time, but looking back on it now was obviously made up to keep us away from pillons (apologies Maurice if you were actually real).

06/02/13 (Wed) - Business cards ready for Slaithwaite’s weird and wonderful Moonraking Festival on Feb 23rd. I’ll be selling my screen prints as part of the Handmade Trail.
(cards went a bit wrong - top of the type missing. All turned out good in the end… got them re-printed for free).
